Jacinth Dawson

Full Name: Jacinth Renee Dawson
Blood Status: Halfblood
Nationality: British
Place of Birth: London, England
Date of Birth: February 18, 2043
Age: 33
Spoken Languages: English, Spanish
Relationship Status: Single

Eyes: Green
Hair: Dark Brown
Height: 5’6”

Look Description: Average build. Upon meeting someone for the first time, most people think Jacinth looks like the sweet, girl-next-door type. Knowing that this help to invite trust in her, Jacinth is not above using that for her job advantage. She’s found that people are more willing to talk to her during questioning than they are the hard, stern-looking males, who tend to put people on edge. She looks younger than she is, a great advantage when working on a case sometimes, and a disadvantage when trying to get someone who doesn't know her to respect her.

Dressing Style: Jacinth can be comfortable in robes or muggle clothing.

Character Description: Jacinth hates having a to-do list, she'd rather have a done list. She gets things done and hates procrastination. While on the job, her pet peeve is the waiting. She likes action and hates feeling useless, but is able to force herself to be patient.

When it comes to personal relationships, she’s more of a social loner unless with her family. She is able to socialize and make nice with people in general, but keeps her distance emotionally. There is no logical explanation for this, it is just the way she’s always been. While she cares for people as a whole, when it comes to a person, she finds it impossible to open herself to the possibility of anything more than an acquaintanceship. It’s almost as if she’s afraid of getting to close to anyone.
This does help her keep her emotional distance when it comes to having to put dangerous criminals down for the good of the public. She refuses to hesitate in the moment, but may question herself later. As she was told in training, “You can cry later. You can be sick later. You can feel guilty later. You can only save your life and most likely someone else’s right in the moment.” She has taken those words to heart, and if she ever wonders if she did the right thing, she reminds herself of just what that person was guilty of. There is one thing she has felt guilt over, which will probably never go away. On her first case, her partner was killed. It wasn’t because she hesitated, but because the criminal had knowledge of muggle weaponry. He’d shot her partner as she’d fired the curse that ended his life. Her partner had died at the scene. The guilt she carries around is more of a survivor’s guilt. Why her partner and not her?

Quirks: When feeling impatient, she has a habit of tapping her nails on any nearby surface.

Jacinth is always looking for something more, so can be seen as adventurous. She also wants to make the magical world as safe as possible. She knows she can’t do it on her own, but believes that every little bit helps. During working hours, she almost craves the excitement of the chase and finally, the catch. In her off-hours, she prefers to relax with a glass of wine and a warm fire. At times, when fresh off a case, she’s hyped up and will go out to a club or something to work off the extra energy. She’s detail-oriented and almost fears making mistakes. She has the classic middle child syndrome, always looking for attention and recognition.

Strengths: Friendly, humanitarian, honesty, loyalty, original, inventive, independent and intellect

Weaknesses: Intractable, contrary, unpredictable, unemotional and detached

Likes: Recognition for a job well done, rainbows, getting things done, changes, surprises

Dislikes: anonymity (unless on the job), emotional people, following the rules, broccoli, waiting

Wand: 12.5" Yew, Dragon Heartstring. Your wand is longer than average, with a flexible and long-lasting wood. Dragon Heartstring is a common Ollivander core. Your wand is ideal for jinxes and hexes.

Strength: Defense and Dueling
Weakness: Magical Creature Studies and History

School: Hogwarts (2054-2061)
House: Gryffindor

Position: HitWitch. During assignments, Jacinth is great at blending in for recon work. Once the criminal is found, Jacinth does not give up until the job is done. She can force herself to be patient, no matter how long the job takes.
Former positions: Jacinth was an auror for a little while, but decided she could do more good as a Hit Witch.

Family and History

Father: Alfred Dawson
Mother: Abigail Matthews
Siblings: Older brother, Aiden. Younger sister, Davina

Pet: None

Background: Jacinth grew up with a halfblood father and a muggle mother. Because of this, she is equally comfortable in both worlds. Up until she started school, her father made sure she could easily move about in the magical world, while her mother did the same for her in the muggle world.

At age eleven, she started school at Avalon Academy, being sorted into Praetor. She was overtaken by stories of wonderful heroics and made the choice to be an auror. She studied hard, as theoretical parts of classes didn't come easily to her. She had less trouble with the practical portions. She didn't make friends easily, as she was taught to be emotionally stoic. She hasn't gotten much better in that aspect.

Upon graduation, she was extremely pleased to have received Outstandings in DADA, Charms, and Transfigurations, and Exeeds Expectations in Potions and Arithmancy. Sadly, she only merited Acceptable in Ancient Runes and History of Magic. She promptly applied to join the Auror corps and went through the training. In the three years of auror training, she wasn’t’ the best, but did well enough to get high recommendations.

Unsurprisingly after two years of doing the grunt work, she found the work to be boring and, in her opinion, not enough. As an auror, she had to follow all of the rules to the letter, or the person she was after could get off, go on to commit more and/or worse crimes. Sometimes, because of having to follow the rules, the person could escape. Looking around at what else she could do to do more to protect the world and it’s lawful citizens, she decided to apply for the Hitwizard team.

Fearing that she wasn't good enough, and in response to jeers telling her that she wouldn't make it, she poured every effort and every bit of energy she had into the training. Luckily, it paid off in the end, and six months later, she was awarded a place in the department.

Five and a half years, or thereabouts, after graduation, she was a fully-fledged hitwitch. In the beginning of her training, she briefly doubted herself, not sure she could handle the entire job, but after learning about several of the past cases, especially those of rounding up some of the lower-level and nameless Death Eaters that had run before the Final Battle, she found that she wouldn’t have a problem.

Her first case was going after a halfblood, raised similarly to her own past. This had been one dark wizard that hadn’t shunned the muggle world entirely. There had to be something wrong in Dylan Wool’s mind, as he just seemed to enjoy killing. He didn’t seem to have a preference as to whether he used magical or muggle means. She and her partner Cassius Hutch had Wool covered, or so they thought. As she’d spoken the curse that would end Wool’s life, therefore protecting people of both worlds, Wool had brought out a gun and shot Cassius. This case took six months, as Wool tended to prefer hiding out in the muggle world, and she felt as if she spent as much time educating Cassius on the muggle world as she did tracking Wool.

She almost gave up right after that first case, but knew that if she did, there would be two less people willing to do what had to be done, rather than just one less. She did make one concession though. After that time, she got herself trained in using muggle hand-to-hand combat. She’s been known to use both physical fighting as well as a wand indiscriminately. She’d also made sure to get trained in gun handling, for safety reasons, just in case she ever came across that scenario again.

Since that time, she’s helped to bring down quite a few threats. In an effort to keep herself sane, once a job is over, she doesn’t think of the targets as people. They are nameless, faceless pests that needed to be put down like a sick animal.

Her most recent case was centered on a dark wizard, heritage unknown, who had obviously watched way too many muggle movies. His actual name was still unknown, showing that the wizard was most likely a foreigner. He went by the alias of Cain. He would find a peaceful elderly couple, only to torture the man almost into insanity while the woman was forced to watch. Then, he would kill the woman with the death curse while the man was forced to watch, unable to do anything to save his wife, and would end his game by finally killing the man in a most painful way. He’d left a calling card of sorts behind at every crime scene: “Are you proud of me now?” He must have had some major daddy issues. Jacinth wasn’t interested in saving him from himself though, and as soon as she’d caught up to him, luckily in time to save a couple’s life, she’d put him down like a rabid dog. She’d felt no remorse.

In the four and a half years of being with the Hit wizards, she’d made use of her personal St. Mungo’s bed more than a few times, but no matter how injured she’d gotten in the past, and would in the future, she can’t see herself doing anything else. She feels useful, knowing that with the animals being put down, the people they had or would have marked are safe from them.
