Okay, so for those who might not know, MEPS is basically the physical(s) that must be done before you can sign the contract for the military. (He wants to join the Navy and become either a CryptoTech or Nuke tech, or whatever they call it.)
He went last Thursday and returned on Friday. He went with a group of five other boys. One boy was swearing in (as in, leaving for boot camp) and the others were, like AJ, going for physicals.
AJ was the only one of that group that didn't sign.
That's right. He failed the MEPS requirements.
He's not completely out of the possibility of joining. He failed the audio test, but they'll do an 'ear wash' and let him try again. He also apparently has scoliosis. He will need to have x-rays to see how bad or not-bad it is. If it's less than 20-30 degrees, he'll be fine. If it's more, we're not sure. But, tbh, I'm not too worried. It hasn't ever affected him before, so I don't really expect it to now. As long as he can meet all the requirements, he should be able to get a waiver.
We are just waiting to see when he'll be able to go back.
On the good side, he scored really high on the ASVAB (the entrance exam), so they really want him. He scored so high that he actually qualified to do ANY job. So, we're hoping.
Cross your fingers for him, please!
(As mom, I don't want him to go. But also as mom, I want him to do what HE wants...and he wants this.)
