Having deliberately held back from the crowd - well back - Maz entered the Great Hall alone after breakfast had already started. Dancing along to a tune only heard in her head the Hufflepuff sang as she made her way to the Slytherin table instead of her own. She was in a good mood. It was going to be a splendid day, she was sure of it.

“You've done me wrong, your time is up. You took a sip from the devil's cup. You broke my bones, there's no way back. Move right out of here, baby, go on pack your bags. Just who do you think you are? Stop actin' like some kind of star. Just who do you think you are? Take it like a man, baby, if that's what you are.”

Stopping behind Pavon an envelope was placed to the side of his meal. “Yir hoose is comin’ along nicely noo aw the paperwurks oot the way. The movin’ walls stunnin’.” The photos within the envelope showed each room of the Sannesley family home and a few of just the wall, all taken with a magical camera and developed in magical solution of course. As was inevitable blocks in the road had been hit, hopefully they were all past or at least the majority of them. Kneeling down to bring her lips beside her friends ear Maz reached for a slice of toast. “Yi really want tae be readin’ the paper the day.” The words left her in a whisper meant for his ears alone. “Keep an eye oan the Gryffindor table tae.”

After a quick smile Maz was on her way, singing again as she danced along not worrying to keep her voice down. “'Cause I'm movin' on up, you're movin' on out. Movin' on up, nothin' can stop me. Movin' on up, you're movin' on out. Time to break free, nothin' can stop me, yeah. They brag a man has walked in space. But you can't even find my pace. There ain't nothin' you can do. 'Cause I've had enough of me, baby, bein' beat by you.”

Some of the words she had changed to make the song better fit her, she often did tweak songs if she felt a need to or if the occassion was right. Upon arriving behind her two closest friends in the school Maz stopped singing and squeezed herself between Amber and Tim. “Nice song eh? Bit eh a threat in it ah feel.” She flashed a winning smile at them both before taking a bite of the toast. While chewing she sorted herself a bowl of cereal, taking her time about it.

Turning slightly to Amber so as not to exclude Tim she asked. “Mind that time ah telt yi ah dinnae use secrets fur blackmail?” Told was perhaps pushing it but she had felt it was made clear that blackmail was not something she bothered with. “Jist wait tae see whit ah dae use secrets fur.” Having not waited for an answer she kept things cryptic, smiled and turned her attention back to her food.

A few spoonfuls later she turned now slightly towards Tim. “Post been?” The question was asked though the one doing the asking knew the answer. Her morning up until the time the post owls arrived had been well planned. The post had not been but it would come and soon. “Very important is the news. Very very.”

Soon proved to be just as Maz was finishing her bowl of sugared flakes. Looking up at the sound of beating wings her lips spread wide. The time had come. In the claws of the many owls - much more than was usual - was her plan coming to fruition. It had been a long time in the making. A test to her own stubbornness as she had to hold herself back each and everytime she saw those who had wronged her. Watching as the owls swooped and piles of copies of The Daily Prophet fell on all four house tables plus in front of each member of staff she could not wait for the reaction. “Read the news guys.” She nudged Tim and Amber. “It’s important remember?… Especially tae the Gryffindor table the day.” Ignoring the papers herself Maz’s eyes found three members of said table, the ones whose names had stoked an icy rage in her each time she thought of them.

The front page of the paper was halved, each side holding what was seen to be an equally important story.

MINISTER RESIGNS AMID BRIBERY CLAIMS!

The first story proclaimed loud and clear with an accompanying photograph depicting what appeared to be the Minister taking a bag, only that was sold to hold gold, from a slightly out of focus figure. The photographs it was claimed had been sent to The Prophets offices anonymously but had quickly been verified as real by those in the know. In the furore that followed with reporters all over the Ministry itself and the Minister's house the woman had resigned. A full investigation was already being set up, might even be underway by time of print. A new Minister would be needed to replace Mrs Ruth Cunningham.

The second headline was just as bold, just as big.

TOP MUGGLEBORN RIGHTS ACTIVIST IN SECRET MEETINGS WITH NOTORIOUS PUREBLOOD RIGHTS PROTESTOR!

The article below, again with photograph of the alleged incident went on to claim that not only had an affair been taking place between the Mrs Sophia Baker and the man but also that she, to keep her movement and in turn herself as relevant as possible, had been paying the so-called activists to protest her gatherings. Again the photographs had been sent anonymously and with them a small pile of corroborating evidence. Worst of it all was the deaths of varying types of blood linked to the protests she had supposedly organised and paid for.

As she watched the faces turning towards the Minister’s daughter Sophie Cunningham and the Muggleborn Rights woman’s son Logan Baker the badger amongst the snakes had a wicked glint to her eye that rivalled that of any Slytherin. This was great, already the idiot girl was crying, near streams running from her eyes as she read the articles that continued on pages 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. Baker looked shell-shocked, he stared at the print with his mouth hanging open. Another idiot Maz thought to herself as her shoulders started to shake with suppressed laughter. Their faces! It was just too good. Well worth the wait even. Maybe taking her time about getting her own back was the way to go in future… maybe.

It wasn’t over yet though and what happened next was something even Maz couldn’t have foreseen. A howler that had lain unseen upon the Gryffindor table having landed between Cunningham and Baker, directly before one Phillip Kent started to rise. Being completely in the dark about it’s contents the chuckles left Maz as he leaned forward. Her plans for Kent she had thought would sadly not be as public as for the other two. Unlike them he wasn’t connected to anyone in the public domain. Maz did know his parents however and they had recently been visited by a “friend of a friend” and certain nudges to look in a certain seventh year boys room had been made. While she had tried to time it right with the help of her “friend” and his in turn, hoping his parents reactions would line up for her Maz had resigned herself to the fact they wouldn’t. His parents she had suspected would bury what they found and she would have to go after Kent in other ways. How wrong her assumptions had been as she found out when the Howler began yelling, Philip's mother’s voice filling the hall.

“PHIIIIIIILIIIIIIIIP! YOU STUPID BOY, DO YOU REALISE WHAT YOU’VE DONE? YOU AND THOSE TWO SUPPOSED FRIENDS OF YOURS; SOPHIE AND LOGAN! YOU’VE RUINED IT! ALL YOUR FATHER HAS WORKED FOR! WE FOUND THE LETTERS, OH YES WE FOUND THEM AND… AND WE’VE SENT THEM TO THE HEADMASTER! YOU HIT THAT GIRL! YOU BEAT HER THREE ON ONE, ALMOST KILLED HER SOME ARE SAYING AND FOR WHAT? A STUPID IDEOLOGY YOU HEARD ON THE RADIO FROM THE MOUTH OF THAT CON-ARTIST! YOU STUPID STUPID BOY! MAZZABELLE COWAN OF ALL PEOPLE! THE ONE AND ONLY REMAINING COWAN! THE FAMILY YOUR FATHER WORKS FOR! THE OWNER OF THE HOUSE WE LIVE IN! WE’RE GOING TO HAVE TO MOVE! YOUR FATHER WILL HAVE TO FIND OTHER WORK! HE’S NOT FIT FOR THIS! HIS HEART IS DELICATE AND YOU KNOW IT! YOU WAIT ‘TIL I GET MY HANDS ON YOU, BOY! YOU BETTER START HOPING THEY LOCK YOU UP AND THROW AWAY THE KEY! YOU HAVE BROUGHT SHAME ON THIS FAMILY! YOU DISGUST ME!”

The envelope ignited to fire and the first laugh to be heard was coming from the Slytherin table, from the one Hufflepuff sitting there. The girl with a hand on each of her friends shoulders to steady her as her whole body shook. The girl who now had tears streaming from her own eyes. This was better than anything she could have fully planned, a natural reaction from a down to earth, no-nonsense type of person. Merlin Bless Mrs Kent and her non-nonsense approach to motherhood. Of course she wouldn’t be thrown out of her home. Nor would her husband be out of a job. That was simply a thought Maz had wanted planted in their minds when she’d arranged the visit. A thought she’d let linger a little while longer. It was of course a shame that others had to suffer for the misdeed of three but in Maz’s mind that was the three’s fault and not hers.

Another natural reaction happened when Phillip stood up, his eyes finding the laughing girl and boring into her. “YOU FUCKING BITCH!” He screamed across the hall. Maz sobered quickly, her laughter dying as a wicked smirk touched her lips. Slowly she stood and stepped back from the table, away from her friends. Though she doubted that a fight would be able to happen with the staff present, if it did it was her fight. Her arms rose slightly out from her sides as her eyes never left the boy across the hall and the smirk didn’t leave her lips. She tempted him to go for it, silently pleaded with him to come at her, attack. One-on-one, face to face, Phillip did not stand a chance.

Headmaster Norwood sat at the Head Table, reading over the Prophet again and trying, oh so hard, not to seethe. There was no question in his mind that Maz had set this entire thing up; and while he desperately wished she would have come to him first. While he would have been willing to arrange the outcome he was reading about, he was pretty sure that he could have gotten something out of it – not to mention he could have taken more steps to secure the arrangements he had in place with the Ministry.

His mind had been racing with all of the things that he was going to have to do ever since he’d seen the paper. He’d been running all morning, and judging from the commotion that erupted at the Gryffindor table he was glad that he’d chosen the order that he had. As the Kent boy rose, clearly seeking a fight, Norwood flicked his wand at the doors to the Great Hall and they swung open; allowing the Aurors into the room.

“Stop!” his voice rang out through the room as he came to his feet. Kent froze and his eyes whipped toward the front table, stopping him just long enough for the Aurors to reach him and restrain him.

“You and your friends have done quite enough Mr. Kent.”

He picked his way around the table and started toward the boy and his companions, a deep frown marring his face. With a disappointed shake of his head he said to the Aurors, “Will you bring them along to my office if you please?”

“We can take care of their expulsion, and then we can see about transferring them into your custody.”

His eyes roamed the room as he addressed the rest of the students, “You will want to finish your meals, we will not be cancelling classes today.”

That said, he stormed from the Great Hall, the Aurors and soon-to-be expelled students trailing behind him.

Pavon was not in one of his better moods. To be quite frank, his health had gone from bad to worse. While he'd thought that he was finally over it, the pain insisted in starting at random times. He could not focus on his studies and that last time, when his friend caught him curled up on his bed, it was the beginning of a pattern he would have rather avoided.

It was probably his body getting used to not having the potion any longer but also craving it even more than it had in its first stages. He'd tried ignoring the pain or solving it simply with pain potions. Those were allowed, legal things taken for the growing pains usually, or some other worse things. Even those he could only consume before bed or when he knew he would be wearing his glasses that he'd acquired. Outside usually, or where there were brighter lights. Indoors he just looked like he was trying to look cool, rather than needing them. During classes he still had to take them off.

When Maz came up, he was just considering skipping breakfast fully, and maybe drinking something before his first class. He looked startled when she placed photos infront of him but when his eyes locked on the images, a small smile did start to appear. He was grateful. For all the times he was angry with Maz, he would still visit her when she was in hospital and still worry about her and at this time, he would also be grateful. Acquiring his old home was far from easy, even with Maz being at the helm of the whole thing. Thinking that maybe this summer he could go and rather than live in the old run down house, to stay at the mansion, made some of his gloom fade away.

"Thank you." He murmured quietly back. He could have said more, but she was going off already anyway and her cryptic words tickled his curiosity. The post would be arriving soon, but what had Maz done? She sounded rather happy with all that singing and all. He watched her leave then studied the photos again.

He glanced at the bowl of food, that he ought to have eaten and nudged it away carefully. After a little while with the newspapers arriving he took the one landing next to him only to check the first page. Minister resigned. That was unexpected. And the muggleborn activist was found to be a crook? Well that would surely remove them from their position, whichever it was. It felt good to know the muggleborns , muggleborn lovers and such were being punished, something he had not expected happening at all. Maz knew about it? That meant, she must have had something to do with it too.

Ah, it all made sense rather quickly. The connection was clear. The activist and their offspring and the minister and theirs. That is why Maz went after them, their children had attacked her and she wanted retribution and got it. She was by far more fitting to be a slytherin than a badger at that point, but he would not tell her that. She'd probably not have taken it as a compliment. The shouting filled the room and he arched a brow turning to see the third boy being chewed up by the howler. Well, that answered the question of whether Maz figured out who all of her assailants were. The answer was, yes. She would not be attacked again. If any of the purebloods would be, it would not be her.

If there should have been a fight, it was interrupted before it could happen. The headmaster meddled in again. Tch. Pavon almost wished he could have seen Phillip get beat up for what he'd done. It was Maz's right to do so, by all accounts and he knew from personal experience she would not be the one loosing or being gentle.

Even this long ago, he still shifted uncomfortably and pulled his legs together at the memory. Yep, it had been painful. Then he saw the Aurors and he froze. They were not coming for him and part of his mind knew that but they were still there, and they were heading towards the tables and for a moment he felt like he was going to be horribly sick or like he wanted to run before they got to him, he felt the cold chill down his back. After a short while though they were restraining Kent and then they were leaving with the headmaster.

Pavon began to breathe again even though he had not known he'd stopped when seeing the aurors. It was ridiculous. He was still terrified of them, even after meeting Levi and having proof that they were not all bad, he still froze at the mere sight of them.

He lowered his gaze towards his bowl and then slowly moved to look at Maz, closer to the other two, he considered anything but friends. He sighed, but still gave her a thumbs up. It was a way to say... good job.
