Aiden was nervous. More nervous than he could remember being in a long, long time, and that included sitting his OWL exams just a short time before. When he’d received the invitation to come and visit Drucilla Selwyn from Poppy, he’d been excited – he didn’t know much about her family other than knowing they were Purebloods. The rumors said that they were a part of the crowd that fumed under the introduction of muggleborn students into their world; but Poppy hadn’t seemed that way really so he hadn’t been too concerned about it.

Then he’d gotten home and the first thing he’d done after dropping his trunk in the foyer of the house was to make his way over to Caryn’s place. He hadn’t seen her in months and it had been killing him. Her mom greeted him with a tight hug and just a few tears, the news of his capture had reached them right away and while they’d written a few letters, they hadn’t been able to come visit him at the school since they weren’t actually related.

After some brief catching up he’d explained to them what had been going on and the invitation to see the Selwyn family and he’d started to become worried when Mrs. Taylor had paled. Then it had all come out and suddenly the short wait before it was time to stop by became just a little bit of torture. Briefly, he’d been truly looking forward to it, and now it felt like he was walking knowingly into his own mugging.

Mr. Taylor had taken him out shopping to make sure he had some stylish robes, which would at least make a better first impression for the matriarch of the Selwyn family than any of his non-magical clothes. It seemed so, so wrong for him to pretend to be something he wasn’t for Poppy’s grandmother but he was prepared to take the Taylors’ advice on this one. He was still very, very new to the magical world, after all.

Finally, the day dawned and he was up and ready to go before the sun. Sleep had eluded him the night before and he couldn’t get over how stupid it was to be this nervous about something as silly as meeting Poppy’s family. It wasn’t even her parents for god’s sake. A slightly blush crept up his face as he tucked into his breakfast and forcibly reminded himself that there really wasn’t anything to this since they were just friends.

Making sure to leave plenty of time to spare, Aiden made his way back to the Taylors’ place where he could use the Floo Network to get to Hogsmeade and meander his way through the village to Drucilla Selwyn’s home. It was a beautiful morning, warm but not hot with a pleasant breeze; birds were singing and there were just a few lazy clouds in the sky. He snorted in amusement at just how opposite the weather was when compared to his emotions.

Keeping an eye on his watch, he arrived on her doorstep three minutes early. Not late, but not nearly early enough to be considered a nuisance. Aiden took a deep breath and smoothed down the acromantula silk robe that Mr. Taylor had insisted he purchase, before reaching out and knocking on the door.

For the first time that he’d started attending Hogwarts, Aiden truly wasn’t sure that he felt safe within the halls. There was a small voice in the back of his head that was pointing out that the unsettled feeling that he was experiencing probably had more to do with his lack of memory of what had landed him in this situation than anything else and he did his best to cling to that thought. He loved Hogwarts, and he hated to think that he wasn’t going to be comfortable there anymore. There hadn’t been any word yet of what sorts of punishments were going to be doled out but if he’d been in another fight with Pavon Sannasely, he really wished he’d have remembered it.

The nurse had been pretty horrified with his injuries – which apparently included a minor crack in the back of his skull and a reasonably serious concussion. Apparently it was entirely possible that he’d never remember what had happened and it had been impressed on him very strongly that if he started experiencing recurring headaches or dizziness, he needed to come straight back to the hospital wing for further diagnoses.

After that, it seemed there wasn’t going to be much they could do for him. Still, they wanted to keep him for a couple days just to check and make sure there weren’t worse issues that had been missed in the scans and so he’d been spending the day just lying on the hospital bed and staring out the window. It was remarkably boring and he’d have killed to be able to be up and about again.

Aiden was enjoying the new year a lot more than he’d expected to. It was his OWL year, and his Professors were really getting into the school work and assignment thing. He supposed it made sense since they were paid to make sure that their kids got through the exams but it was still deeply annoying. Begrudgingly, he’d made sure to get caught up on his assignments before making a break for it. He skidded to a halt and swallowed his curse of dismay as he saw the rain pouring down outside.

That shot his idea of going outside and running around for a while. A soft voice in the back of his mind said that was probably a sign that he should do some more studying; instead, he turned the other way and decided to just wander the halls a bit. He’d spent a lot of time exploring the upper levels, looking for hidden rooms and passages, but he hadn’t spent much time in the dungeons.

The Slytherins weren’t super welcoming to visitors that wore red and gold, but there wasn’t a lot they could do about a Prefect who was wandering around. With a spring in his step, he took the stairs down into the lower levels to see what he could find.

Look Description: Aiden is a little bit shorter than most of his peers and is kind of stocky. He keeps his hair pretty short, but doesn't really take much time to keep it under control so it's generally really messy. His ice blue eyes are often sparkling with good humor and he generally has a smile on his face.

Dressing Style: At this point, Aiden has pretty well given up on ever being comfortable in wizard robes. He grew up with muggle clothes and is still at his happiest when that is what he is wearing. On those rare occasions when robes are required, he wears jeans and a t-shirt underneath them if at all possible.

Character Description: Most of the time, Aiden is really laid back and easy to get along with. He forms strong opinions and will stand up for them but he doesn’t take offense to people that disagree with him unless they get ridiculous about it. He has a playful sense of humor and enjoys a good joke or a good prank – even if it’s directed at him. Bullies – on the other hand – bug him and he’s all about helping to put them in their place.

Quirks: Aiden is very high energy and pretty much always moving – even if it’s just tapping his feet or his pen during class.

Strengths: Friendly, Outgoing, Strong-willed, Ambitious, Courageous

Weaknesses: Mischievous, Arrogant, Judgmental, Impatient, Spoiled

Likes: Caryn, laughing and having fun, pranks, not having to work

Dislikes: Classes, bigoted purebloods, getting in trouble, bullies, boredom

Strength: Transfiguration
Weakness: Healing, Potions

Family and History

Father: Galen Flynn
Mother: Elsi Flynn
Siblings: Ethan Flynn (Older Brother)
William Flynn (Oldest Brother)

Pet: Black Cat named Shadow

Background: Aiden was the third child, and second magical child, of a wealthy muggle family in Dublin. His father owns and operates an international shipping company that had been started by his great-grandfather. The family was always well off and the children never really wanted for anything. The business was even established enough that his dad wasn’t one of those fathers who was away all of the time for work.

Things were always a little weird around their house as things had a tendency to move, and break and things were just odd. Nobody ever really had any explanation for it until his middle brother’s eleventh birthday and the arrival of his Hogwarts letter and a Professor from Hogwarts to explain what it meant. From that point on, everything made a lot more sense – though it also became a lot quieter and more boring when Ethan left. Still, the odd occurrences slowed, but didn’t stop, and Aiden began looking forward to attending Hogwarts too since that was the only thing that made sense – William was too old for it to be him.

The next two years passed all too slowly for him as he heard stories about his brother’s time at school and he was all too glad when his own letter appeared on his eleventh birthday. It was the first time that he’d ever really done any traveling on his own and even then it wasn’t really on his own, there were a lot of other students on the train and he did his best to try and start making friends. He was pretty pleased with how well he seemed to fit in with the rest of the students and the ride went by in a flash.

He wasn’t sure how he felt when he wasn’t sorted into the same house as his brother, but he had to admit that Ravenclaw wouldn’t have fit him nearly as well as Gryffindor – where he was sorted. When he took a seat at his table with the other first years he ended up next to Caryn Taylor and was pleased and surprised at just how well they connected. By the end of their first year it was like they’d always known each other. It was kind of amazing that they managed to make it through their first year without getting kicked out – because as much as they got along, they also fed off of each other and sometimes it became difficult for him to know when to stop.

Finally the first year had ended and he was concerned about just how he was going to handle going back home and being surrounded by people that he couldn’t even talk to about what he was doing and what he had seen. Fortunately his fears had been groundless as he spent most of the time either at Caryn’s or her over at his place and the time off from school passed very quickly.

Second year was pretty much a repeat of the first, though this time he entered with a better understanding of what was going on and he thrived as he did his best to expand his circle of friends beyond just Caryn – though there was no question in his mind that she would always be his best friend. None of the people he spent time with connected with him the way she did, though he had a sizeable group of friendly acquaintances and he was happy with that.

Again, he managed to pull off passing grades and to the Professor’s surprise – as well as his own – he managed to move on with the rest of his class and he found himself headed home again and looking forward to third year.
