Anastacia didn't leave the castle on each of her night's off but she did make a point of doing it at least once a month. Even if she didn't realise it at the time the break from the castle was needed. Whatever she did, wherever she went the change was a good thing.

Having had the whole day off Ana had already spent enough time with her family. So after dinner she took her leave and apparated back to Hogsmeade. It was just a bit too early to go back to the castle according to her own rules about these things. The pub it was then. A comfortable place with friendly people.

She got a glass of juice at the bar then settled herself at the table to the side of the fire. The barman's dog came over for a quick pet before leaving Ana to it and lying down again on the rug before the hearth. The nurse loved the dog, a big softie of a thing. A highlight of coming into the pub for her was watching the silly thing greet everyone through the door.

It was nice to sit and relax with the magazine she'd brought along. It was a muggle one, a secret love. Real-life stories for real-life people. Or so it proclaimed on the cover. Ana had her doubts. Some of the stories were just too much to wrap her head round. No way could they be true. Still, she enjoyed them and there was an entertainment factor. Smiling she laid it out on the table and turned to the first drama filled tale of woe.

If there was ever a time that Jethro needed a break, it was today. The argument he had gotten into with his sister had just topped off the day, an argument that was pointless and escalated too quickly. He was sure that if their niece hadn't been in the house a duel would have broken out between the siblings. Still Jethro knew Juliet was only trying her hardest, she just chose a bad moment to bring everything up.

With a defeated sigh he pulled his coat tighter against him, ducking his head as he strolled through the streets of Hogsmeade. He had gotten out to just clear his head, walk around and calm down before heading back. It didn't help that his walk took him past a pub, a very warm and tempting pub.

The call of the warmth and some solidarity was too great to resist and he found himself sauntering into the pub not a moment later. The instant he stood inside he felt calmer, just with the familiar scents and relaxed atmosphere. At least it was relaxed at the moment, he knew how rowdy it could get later in the night. Hopefully he wouldn't be here for that long.

As he was scanning the room for a place to occupy he noticed the school's mediwitch sitting alone. Coming to a decision he ordered a glass of firewhiskey and made his way over to his fellow colleague. "Skiving off in the pub, are we?" He joked, offering a wide smile. "Mind if you have some company?"

Anastacia jumped when spoken to. She looked up hurriedly from the story she’d been engrossed in. “P-Professor Lancaster!” Oh no, she really didn’t want to be caught reading such tat by a colleague. She took enough stick about it from her brothers.

“Yes. Please sit.” She told him while she placed the magazine face down and rested an arm on it.

It was oddly timed but she chuckled at his joke then. “Skiving’s the best way to stay sane. Everything in moderation.” Ana was a usually cheery, bubbly kind of person but right then she was most full-on. It came from her embarrassment at being caught as she was. She took a gulp from her glass and wished she’d opted from something alcoholic now.

“I’m just after spending the day at my parents house; Mum, Dad, five brothers, their partners and too many nieces and nephews to count… it’s been quite a day.” The nurse smiled a tired smile though she loved the family time really. At least she was calming now; her heart rate slowing, the pink blush to her cheeks fading and her voice making it’s return to normal.

“I take it you’re off today too? Done anything exciting?” It was only then that she wondered why she rarely used her free days for excitement. She always intended to go and see some sights, tour museums… perhaps even see a show. It never happened. When the time came she simply felt too tired and sometimes lonely. Oh well, she’d make the change, next day off she’d take some of the kids somewhere. They’d love that, and so would their parents.

Jethro hadn't meant to spook the Mediwitch, holding his hands up in a placating manner to try and ease the shock. "Hello." He gave her a warm grin and a words of thanks as he took the seat opposite her. He noticed her placing a magazine down on the table but couldn't quite tell what it was from this angle.

It wasn't that he didn't know how to skiv, he did and had done it a few times, but it wasn't exactly something he prided himself on doing often. He was too happy to be working on one thing or another to be skiving and he was just now realising how boring that made him seem. "That or a good bottle of whiskey." He smiled, tilting his glass towards her.

Hearing her talk about her family made a warm feeling spread through him, it was always nice to see family getting along. Maybe it was just because of the rawness of his fight with Juliet that he was feeling this mushy over Ana and her family. "It sounds like it would be quite the day. How old are the nieces and nephews?" If they were young he could definitely see how much of a toll it could take out of someone.

At her question he gave her a serious look, leaning forward as though sharing a secret. "I left the children in the Astronomy tower, the door is locked and set to open in an hour. I'm seeing how many survive before the door opens." He waited a moment before his face broke out into a smile. "I did have the day off but as for exciting things? Not quite. I spent most of it with my niece. I'm finding it harder and harder to entertain her each day." He admitted. "Any helpful ideas?"

"Hello." Ana returned the greeting with a sheepish smile. She knew she should have started with that but had gotten herself overly flustered.

"I'm more of a cocktail girl myself." Any cocktail as long as it looked the part and Ana was happy. Too happy sometimes since cocktails went down so easy. "My Dad's a whisky man. Always medicinal of course." She chuckled.

"Hmm... I really should know this, let me think..." Anastacia always felt like a terrible aunt when she forgot the kids ages but at least she always remembered the birthdays. "Well, Jason is the oldest and he's just turned eight. The youngest is our sweet little Jessica, she's just over a year old. Then the ones in between. They're all going to grow up so close. It's lovely." Her smile was genuine as she finished. She'd grown up very close to her brothers and she was glad her nieces and nephews would have close family too.

"As long as there's no injuries for me to deal with I'm fine with your plan." She could actually make jokes about such situations, not often but she could.

"Oh don't ask me. I'm a terrible Aunt... I feed them." Ana grinned. "It's good that I don't see them as often as I'd like or they'd be completely round by now. How old is your niece?" Maybe the age would give her an idea she could share with him.

Jethro didn't know a lot about cocktails, his sister often got drinks that had bizzare names but he couldn't be sure what they were or what was even in the drinks. "Of course. Medicinal is always the best time for whiskey." He winked.

It was interesting to watch her recall the ages of her nieces and nephews, he was lucky enough to not have that many to remember. In fact apart from Anna, he didn't have any nieces or nephews. He did, however, have quite a few second cousins who were of a younger age, two that were currently attending Hogwarts. "There is a good mix of ages then." He smiled. She looked genuinely happy to be talking about her family and it gave him a warm, fuzzy feeling.

A surprise laugh left his lips as she continued to play along with his joke. "Of course I hope no injuries happen. That would be far too much paperwork for me to be doing." He tipped his glass towards her before taking a drink from it.

Feed them. He thought he did enough of that with Anna and she never seemed to complain about being fed up. As to other activities, though, he was completely out of fresh ideas that could keep her occupied. "She is turning five in March." He replied.

Ana giggled at the Professor’s wink. She wasn’t flirting though it may seem like it was she was just acting the way you were supposed to. Was it her fault that giggle naturally followed a wink? She didn’t think so!

She nodded in agreement. “It’s so much fun to watch then interacting with the world. Even for the oldest there’s new things to discover almost daily.” Every time she saw one of her nieces or nephews they had something new and exciting to tell her. Ana loved the thirst for life they had and liked hearing their tales about it.

“Oh sure - paperwork. Here I am worried about being up to my knees in bandages and salves and you think of your paperwork.” She continued to tease. “Please at least tell me there’s no way they can set some bludgers loose up there.” The nurse mock whined. Her feelings of exasperation for the magical sport were not kept quiet.

“Oh but that’s excellent timing! That magical circus starts at the end of March or beginning of April. I haven’t seen it myself yet but my brother took his twins last year and they all could not stop raving about it. There’s no animals.” Ana had been happy to hear. “But there’s high-flyers, broom tricks… a magical light show… and I forget the rest. Sorry.” They had told her everything but it had been difficult to keep up as her brother, his wife and their two kids spoke a mile a minute.

“What we really need is an adventure play park close to the village. Another brother dragged me on a picnic a couple years ago.” She said dragged but she loved to be included really. “We went to a muggle park and they had everything. Slides, swings, a zipline, bouncy toys, roundabouts and climbing frames. I had a great time.”

Ana had played as much as the children as they swung, slid, climbed, bounced and soared through the air. It really had been a great day. She’d have to bug her brother to do it again.
