That was something that they’d discussed with their foray into the University and it had made him smile then too. Again, he didn’t think there was going to be that much risk this time around either as he had permission to wander the third floor as he desired; and it wasn’t like he was going to be bringing everyone up there to tramp all over the place.
Her sideways glace made him chuckle and he smiled brightly at her, “I’m not saying you’re definitely wrong now but if – as you say – you’re seldom wrong, then it’s certainly possible now…”
“I’d be honored if you were willing to take me under your wing.”
Adventures weren’t something that Lysander historically had very many of. However, that hadn’t been true for a while – between the University with her, and the Alley with Ophiuchus, and then again, with his grandmother, Lysander was having quite a few. He absolutely preferred the ones he’d been having with Penelope.
Her excitement at his offer didn’t go unnoticed and he smiled back – almost giddily. Nor did the smirk at his comment, which had him smiling as well – not quite goofily, but it was on the line. He stood with her and offered his arm as he agreed, “Allons-y!”
As they stood and began their exit from the room, Lysander hesitated for just a moment when he saw Richard Morrigan in the room. There was no way for the man to know what he was planning, but still he hesitated briefly before leading her out of the room, out onto the gallery, and then into the stairwell that would lead them up to the third floor. A slight pressure washed over them as they passed through the wards that would have stopped anyone not either keyed to the wards, or with someone that was, and he led the way up to the third floor.
When they reached the top of the steps, they were greeted by a long line of beautiful, and undoubtedly expensive, tapestries – some dating back generations. Lovingly cared for and displayed for anyone lucky enough to be invited to see them.
“There are some sitting rooms and a family room that way,” he motioned off to the right, “but this way is the Library. I’m related to the Morrigans some generations back so I can get into the room. There are some areas that I can’t access, but it’s still something to see.”Penelope Montague-Farnese

Lysander was in a pretty good mood as he made his way down into the dungeons, trying to seek out his query. Having only spoken to Penny once, and Pavon not at all, he wasn’t too sure where they could be found other than in the dungeons. He figured that even if he couldn’t find them, he might be able to leave a message for them that he was looking for them.
As he made his way through the hallways of the dungeons he looked around, trying to get a good feel for the layout. While he was quite pleased with his position in Ravenclaw, there was still a small piece of him that was disappointed he hadn’t ended up in Slytherin. There was such a long and storied history for the house of Salazar. It would have been a nice to be a part of that; generally, they were closer to the great moments in history than most other houses – with the possible exception of Gryffindor. He supposed that just meant he would have even more of a chance to stand out among his peers.
Ahead he spotted a small group of students walking and chatting; he recognized them all as students from Slytherin and he hurried to catch up with them. “Excuse me,” he called out as he approached them. They stopped and turned back to see who it was.
One of them seemed to recognize him and nodded in greeting before asking curiously, “What brings you down here Selwyn?”
“Well,” he answered, “I was hoping that I could find either Penelope Montague-Farnese or Pavon Sannesley. Would one of you be willing to see if he’s in the Common Room? And if he is, perhaps you could ask him to come out?”
The boy shrugged and said, “I suppose we could do that. For the right price, of course.”
“Of course,” Lysander replied,
“I’d owe you a small favor for it.”
With another nod, the boy he’d been speaking too waved his hand and one of the group hurried down the hall and around the corner – presumably to seek out Pavon or Penelope.Pavon B Sannesley

The summer was dragging. Aside from a brief interlude with Penelope, Lysander had managed to accomplish little, other than to finish his school work and look forward to returning. His parents had never been the most doting of adults, and with all of the upheaval at the Ministry they’d been even more distant than normal. One of the few things that they’d always done as a family had been the shopping for his trips to Hogwarts.
At least, they’d always done it as a family until this year. His father had been called away to a meeting about some new legislation that was apparently in the works and his mum had to stay and do something with preparing the house for some party they were looking at hosting to reinforce the bonds between the politicians his father worked with. They’d need to make sure nobody jumped ship or it was all too likely that the Purebloods would become a simple footnote in history.
With all that in mind, he found himself wandering Diagon Alley alone; with a list of books and supplies that he’d need for the year. His parents hadn’t been exactly sure how much it was going to cost so they’d given him a rather stupid amount of money to make sure it was all covered. He had every intention of spending every last coin.
It had taken a few short trips to pick up the basic supplies for the year before he started toward Flourish and Blott’s. The bookstore was always his last shop, and where he tended to spend the most money. As he approached the store, the crowd grew thicker and he could hear some commotion from further down the street. While he couldn’t make out the words, there was clearly an argument going on as he slipped through the crowd toward the store.
Eventually the crowd became a bit more boisterous and Lysander let out a sigh of relief as he entered the store and got out of the crowd. A sense of concern rippled down his spine as he could see the mob outside start shoving against each other and the shouting grew louder. Movement out of the corner of his eye caught his attention and he turned to see Ophiuchus Lestrange standing there as well.
There was something about the older boy that was just odd, but Lysander greeted him with a nod, “Lestrange. It’s good to see you again.”Ophiuchus Lestrange

Summer was always so hot; normally that didn’t bother Lysander overly much as he was normally inside reading or studying. Even when he was spending time with his friends it was most often inside where they could talk and enjoy each other’s company without dealing with the crowds or the heat of the summer sun. This was not the case now. His parents had been forced to travel to London for a meeting with one of the people they’d worked with back in France. Lysander argued that there was no reason that he couldn’t stay home alone, but his mother had gotten it into her head somehow that he needed to go to the Camp and make an appearance. Something about showing that the Purebloods weren’t cowed by the way things had been going.
So, instead of sitting at home and actually having a good time, Lysander found himself seated in the shade under one of the pavilion tents that had been set up. A glass of water in his hands as he watched the other students run about like idiots, or gather into groups to discuss something inane; he was sure.
Then a familiar face caught his attention and he blinked. Of all the people he thought he might run into while he was at the camp, Penelope Montague-Farnese was the last. As she approached and came into the shade he greeted her, “Hello Penelope, I hope that you are well?”Penelope Montague-Farnese

September 1, 2060Age:
16House and Year:
Ravenclaw, Sixth Year Spoken Languages:
English, French, SpanishRelationship Status:
6’ 2”Look Description:
Lysander is extremely tall for his age, though it – fortunately – seems as though he’s stopped growing. He wears his black hair cut short so it’s easy to maintain. His ice blue eyes shine with intelligence and cunning; and he has an easy, friendly smile.Dressing Style:
As much as he prefers the traditional wizarding robes, Lysander is comfortable wearing the more common muggle clothing that can be seen around the school more and more often over the years. His style of dress is most often predicated on what he is going to be doing and who he is going to be doing it with. It frustrates him, but he does have to suffer through glasses and he is reluctantly grateful for the muggle invention of contacts.PersonalityCharacter Description:
Lysander is an easy going, laid back person; quick with a laugh and a joke. He is happy to talk to most anyone and will go out of his way to be helpful. This all covers up a much more traditional personality and belief structure. Like many of the purebloods, he pines for the day when things can go back to the way they were; the way they are supposed to be. He is content to play the game, fit in, and make contacts that can be used later – but he yearns for a return to the old customs and a sharp divide between the magical and muggle worlds.Quirks:
It takes a great deal of effort, but Lysander prides himself on not having any noticeable ticks or quirks. He sees things like that as a failing of self-discipline.Strengths:
Lysander is quick, both physically and mentally. Due to his bloodline, and their particular history, he comes from a great deal of money and the Selwyn family has maintained a great deal of its political influence. As well, Lysander is a credit to his House with particular talents in planning and research.Weaknesses:
Unfortunately, with his penchant for research and planning, sometimes he can be a bit slow to act. Also, with the privileges he grew up with he is more than a little bit arrogant; which can often times lead him to overestimate his own abilities.Likes:
Lysander likes music, and social gatherings. He loves to dance and enjoys intelligent conversation.Dislikes:
He is disgusted by muggles and by wizards who insist on believing that they inferior creatures are equal to wizarding kind. In the same vein, he is frustrated by magical folk who look down on the muggles but refuse to do anything to make their own world better.MagicWand:
9” Cedar and Dragon’s BloodStrength:
Lysander has a particular gift for Transmutation, and a natural talent for Potions. Weakness:
Unfortunately, he is objectively awful at most forms of magical travel, including brooms, and he has a bitter distaste for magical creatures, so he spends little time improving in that area.Family and HistoryFather:

The Selwyns are one of the few dark-aligned Pureblood families that have maintained their money and influence through the second rise of the Dark Lord and the war that it caused. During Voldemort’s first rise, several members of the Selwyn family were ardent supporters of the Dark Lord. Likely, the family would have fallen into the same trap as so many of their ilk if those same supporters hadn’t been killed in various conflicts against the Aurors and Dumbledore’s Order. Since there were no suriviving people to say otherwise, the family succeeded in claiming they were under the Imperious Curse and fled to France, intending to stay away from Britain until the cloud had settled.
As such, they were not in Britain for Voldemort’s return and there were no marked Death Eaters to be called back into service. They rode out the second war across the channel and watched in horror as the Dark Lord’s plans exploded in his face a second time. Almost before the body was cold, the Selwyns returned to Britain and took an active role in helping to stabilize the Government. They maintained their Ancestral Seat on the Wizengamot and – in fact – increased their fortunes. Delores Umbridge, by claiming to be a kin of the Selwyn family, found herself worse off than just her stay in Azkaban as the Selwyn’s took all of her family’s remaining capital in compensation for the damage that had been done to their reputation by her actions and lies.
Lysander was born and raised on the family estate in Cornwall, making friends with the Purebloods of his generation and looking forward to attending Hogwarts. Finally, the time came and he joined his friends on the train. The hat offered him a chance in Slytherin where several of the others had gone, but Salazar’s House still had a reputation that he was looking to avoid and so he found his home in Ravenclaw Tower.
For the most part, his years at school were peaceful and mundane. He did his best in his classes and tended to place near the top in each of them. He griped along with the other students as Muggle Studies was added to the required list, though he sucked it up and struggled through catching up with where he should have been for his year. It wasn’t until the attack on Maz Cowan that things began to change for him and he started to take a more active role. Her attack led to the downfall of several of the muggle lovers in the Ministry and their hangers on – he hoped that there would finally be a swing back toward the center. Unfortunately, that wasn’t to be and a more radical Minister was installed and it became clear to him that without clearer, more convincing voices in the Ministry and Wizengamot, nothing was ever going to change.
